CBIZ & Mayer Hoffman McCann buy South Florida firm

CBIZ Inc. and Mayer Hoffman McCann PC announced Monday that they acquired Goldstein Lewin & Co. on Friday for an undisclosed amount.

Leawood-based MHM acquired the attest practice, and Cleveland-based CBIZ (NYSE: CBZ) acquired the non-attest practice. Goldstein Lewin, based in Boca Raton, Fla., had 85 associates and about $13.7 million in revenue during the past 12 months. All of the CPA owners of Goldstein Lewin became shareholders of MHM and will continue practicing in South Florida.

“Combined with our existing Boca Raton and Miami locations, the addition of Goldstein Lewin & Co.’s attest practice to our firm strengthens our presence and positions MHM as one of the largest accounting firms in South Florida,” MHM President Bill Hancock said in a release. “They are bringing a tremendous amount of expertise and additional resources that will contribute to the growth and success of our firm all around.”

Mayer Hoffman McCann is the independent auditing arm for CBIZ. Combined, they rank second on the Kansas City Business Journal’s list of top area accounting firms based on the size of their area professional staff.
